Part of the Rocky Mountains we are located in the mineral rich foothills of the Garnet Mountain Range, east of Missoula, west of Butte, in Granite County. Find the Drummond Motel just off I-90 near several ghost towns. As-a-matter-of-fact the closest town to us is the ghost town Garnet. Just 10 miles north off I-90 Garnet may be reached by Forest Service maintained gravel road. In the ghost towns Philipsburg, Granite, and Garnet, gold, silver, copper, sapphires, rubies, and garnets were mined. For more information about these ghost towns and more, visit http://goldwest.visitmt.com/listings Just off I-90 we are conveniently located to an interstate route that can take you to Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, Lewis & Clark Caverns, and many more places of interest. So, stop by on your way, and rest a while. |
Drummond is a working agricultural/ranching town on the Clark Fork River. It was named for trapper, Huge Drummond who in the 1860’s operated a line of traps in the territory. Just off the Interstate, you will step back a bit in time and slow to a more sane pace. Life here is built on traditional values in this ranching community. This captivating, authentic, small western town will refresh you. Known as the Bull Shipper Capital of the World, it is an honest, hard-working, Montanan town. Drummond is the northern entrance to the Pintler Scenic Route on Montana State Highway #1, which takes you through some the most breath-taking scenery anywhere. You will travel through the Pintler Wilderness Area and Georgetown Lake, where you can check out the Old Works Jack Nicklaus signature Golf Course. |

Hunting and Fishing
Montana is well known for its great fishing and hunting seasons, and our very own Clark Fork River is a world-class fly fishing-river. Georgetown Lake is home to Kokanee Salmon, Rainbow Trout in the 3 to 5 pound range, occasionally over 10 pounds, and Brook Trout as well. Rock Creek is a favorite Blue Ribbon Trout Stream of fly fishermen. Other game fish in Rock Creek include Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Mountain Whitefish, and the native Westslope Cutthroat Trout. Flint Creek is another fine trout stream as well as whitefish. For licenses and more information visit online the Montana Fish, Wildlife, & Parks website at http://fwp.mt.gov/fishing/guide/default.aspx
For hunting information visit online the Montanan Fish, Wildlife, & Parks website at www.fwp.mt.gov or for the Interactive Hunt Planner visit http://gis.mt.gov for assistance with land ownership.
